An Impossible Love

Director_ Catherine CORSINI

France, Belgium 2018 135min DCP color feature Fiction
Review

The film cycles through two ideas. "Love is impossible" and "Love that conquered the impossible." In the 1950s, Rachel who works as a personal assistant meets charismatic Philippe. Rachel is deeply in love with this man and even gets pregnant but he disappears. The addictive plot carefully illustrates the changing relationship between Chantal and Rachel based on keen insight into maternal instinct. When Chantal realizes that her life was developed by her father’s arrogance and her mother’s modesty, she learns that any kind of love is possible. [JANG Byungwon]
