A young man comes to the city to audition. He then is involved in illegal activities for money. Unwillingly, He falls in love with a man. But his life will turn upside down when his lover goes to war."
''Let the Summer Never Come Again'' is a creative experimental film on visual image and storytelling. It is a simple love story in the form of road movie, of which it seems meaningless to explain the gist. In addition to its long runtime of 3 hours 20 minutes, this film has a special feature of shooting with a cellular phone by Sony Ericsson, and it disassembles the image as a pixel-by-pixel signal, just as it challenges the convention of viewing. The cell phone image in the ultra-low-resolution looks like an Impressionist oil painting. People rarely appear on still images of the streets, train stations, and markets in the Republic of Georgia, and the characters are treated less than the places in many scenes. With the incoherent narrative, Alexandre Koberidze pioneered the field of innovative expression against traditional narration. [JANG Byungwon]
