Born in 1963, Scotland. Midway through his doctorate at Oxford University he left school to pursue a career in comedy, and since then he has created, produced, directed, and written a number of shows for television, including 「The Thick of It」(2005-2012) and 「Veep」(2012- ). His debut feature, [#i_]In the Loop[_i#](2009), received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.[#i_] The Death of Stalin[_i#](2017) is his most recent film.
