Review

Mariana believes in the mysterious legend of the lovers Halimah and Sukab in the island of Sawai a hundread years ago. She journeys to Sawai to feel what Halimah once felt, hoping to find Sukab there. The people of Sawai never heard of the legend of the lovers. But there happened to be a young man named Sukab who also journeyed to the island in search of an ancient tribe Sukab and Mariana are in search of something they believe in.

Edwin 
Born in 1978, Surabaya, Indonesia. He studied Graphic Design in Petra University, but soon he left his hometown to studied film. He graduates at Jakarta Institute of the Arts with Kara, The Daughter Of A Tree and it became somewhat legend. Kara, The Daughter Of A Tree was shown on the Director’s Fortnight in Cannes. It was the first short went to Cannes in Indonesian film history. Series of his short films have toured extensively around the several international film festival. In 2007 Trip To The Wound was invited to International film festival of Rotterdam and in 2008 Hulahoop Soundings went to Clerrmont-Ferrand. By the time his first feature film Blind Pig Who Wants to Fly received the FIPRESCI Prize at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2009, no one can deny Edwin’s the future of Indonesian independent cinema. His latest film, Postcards From The Zoo was nominated for Golden Bear at Berlin Film Festival 2012 and he recently received the Edward Yang New Talent Award. Edwin keeps pushing forward his journey.
