A Day With Mr.○○
This film, A Day with Mr. ○○ is bound to delight viewers who remember The Night before of Strike, a film that resulted from the passion to change the society through film. The Night before of Strike eventually became a legend in the history of the Korean film movement after its release in the early 1990s. This new film´s main character is the anonymous laborer named ○○, A Day with Mr. ○○ gives a detailed overview of the hard labor that ○○ must endure as an on-spot worker. With yesterday´s fatigue still lingering, he must endure another day at work filled with intimidating machines and nerve-wrecking metallic noise. The only way to relieve his exhaustion is eating a humble lunch served during a short break and joking around with his coworkers. ○○ uses some of the intervals to stop by the labor union´s office, but the intellectual jargon and slogans seem to create a barrier between his concerns and the union staffers. The worst part of the hardship he experiences is worrying about the dismissal notice that could come to him any time, and the frequent industrial accidents in his workplace. The unnamed characters in this film represent the grim picture of laborers, which has not changed much from that of the 1990s. Among the short films that mostly deal with an individual´s everyday life, love relationship, and tediousness without a base, A Day with Mr. ○○ stands out in that it is practically the only short film that brought the la bor issue to the forefront.
