Yeon-ho lives with his brother in the house their parents left them when they passed away. One day, his sister Mi-ja who has had a troublesome relationship with her husband leaves her son to Yeon-ho and disappears. Suddenly left to care for his nephew, he desperately looks for Mi-ja, but fails to find her. Things get worse as his brother turns rebellious and moves out of the house. Since Yeon-ho values family and respects his parents, all this is wearing him out. Then one day, on the anniversary of his parent’s death, Mi-ja finally shows up and says that she’s getting married to a middle aged pimp. Enraged, Yeon-ho gets into a fight with his brother and sister. Directed by Kim Seung-hyun, Blood Simple maintains tension throughout the film through the main character Yeon-ho. He tries to be a father figure for his siblings, but only deals with conflicts with his brother and sister in a violent way. Eventually, Yeon-ho’s brother and sister leave him. This film is noteworthy for superb acting and interpretation of space as well as high quality cinematography and editing.
