Review

After the success of his film The Battleship Potemkin, Sergei M. Eisenstein plans to make his movie in Hollywood. However, the plan didn’t work out so he goes to Guanajuato, Mexico in 1931.
Here, with the help of someone who recognizes him, he is led to a new way of love and the true meaning of art. The daily happenings that he goes through in Guanajuato, is an eye opening process for new things. Director Peter Greenaway shows a new and genius side of him by extremely contrasting Eisenstien’s lunatic character with the dry sense of the flat indoor space. This could also be a portrait of an artist. (LEE Sang-yong)
