JIFF (Jeonju International Film Festival) has made its position firm as a world leader in alternative and independent films since its beginning in 2000. Under the slogan, Freedom, Independence and Communication, we have suggested various directions for development of cinematic arts and invested a lot of effort with the intention to come up with a dynamic film festival where audiences, citizens and cineasts can communicate with each other. Moreover, we have managed JPM (Jeonju Project Market) to establish a business model and worked on publication rights to found a distribution system for independent films. On top of that, we also have run independent cinemas and invested in film production to make JIFF a self-supportive film festival. Besides, we try hard to develop a program connected to local tourism resources and projects related to local cinematic organizations to contribute to development of cinematic culture in Jeonju. JIFF is promising to keep widely open attitude and proceed further in making a film festival for all the people to communicate smoothly. We are expecting that people will hit upon the film festival in Jeonju whenever warm spring breeze blows.
