81 The 18th Jeonju International Film Festival accepts an application for badge 2017/03/08 182

- decided to charge the badges according to the new anti-corruption law in Korea
- expanded badge benefits including badge holder exclusive screening

The 18th Jeonju International Film Festival (Festival Director LEE Choong-jik) starts charging the badges this year and accepts an application for pre-registration from March 2nd.

This new badge policy reflected an open-door trend of the film festival and an implement of an anti-corruption law effective 2016 in Korea. Jeonju IFF has decided to charge fees on badges, which were presented to only limited guests, to provide more opportunities for all those working within the film industry, film-related organizations or schools to participate in the festival.

Badge benefits are as follows. Guest/Jeonju Project Market(JPM)/Press badges are entitled to book a total of 4 film tickets a day(One ticket for same viewing time) and book 1 ticket for ‘Jeonju Stage’, an outdoor screening. Especially this year, there will be a special screening only for Guest/JPM/Press badge holders.

Benefits for Academy badge are much more expanded than last year. During the festival period, Academy badge holders can book a total of 3 film tickets a day(One ticket for same viewing time) and book 1 ticket for ‘Jeonju Stage’. Also, they are entitled to enter venues for Jeonju Project Market(JPM).

As an additional benefit, a maximum of 25% seats of each theater will be assigned for badge holder exclusive seats. Also in the case of sold-out screening, badge holders can enter the theater through ´wait line´, which is available 10 minutes after screening starts, and watch a film in an empty seat. Wait line is first-come first-served and is provided to only Guest/JPM/Press badge holders. There will be extra services such as 10% discount of the festival souvenir purchase for all badge holders.

The utive committee of Jeonju IFF said, “We decided to charge a fee on badge as Anti-Corruption&Civil Rights Commission explained that badge benefits can be subject to the anti-corruption law. Nevertheless, we are seeking new idea and service to provide within the bounds of the law.”
