JIFF’s Masterclass invites experts from diverse fields in filmmaking and examines the characteristics of each field, focusing on one field per year. The lecture-type programs are made in order to extract the experience and stories of each expert through wide-ranging conversation and discussion.
PEDRO COSTA
Born in 1959, Lisbon, Portugal. Abandoned his history studies to follow the classes of Antonio Reis at Lisbon Film School and worked as an assistant director of Joao Botelho and Joao Cesar Monteiro, among others. His first feature <O Sangue> was premiered at the Venice Film Festival, in 1989. His first digital feature <In Vanda’s Room> (2000) was recently nominated as one of “10 Best Films in 2000s” by Cinema Scope. His most recent film <Ne Change Rien> was screened at the Quinzaine des Realisateurs, Cannes Film Festival 2009.
