JEONJU IFF Announces its 22nd Edition With A Full Program and A New Slogan!

The 22nd JEONJU International Film Festival (JEONJU IFF, Festival Director LEE Joondong) announced it will open as planned with a full program and revealed its new slogan in the COVID-19 pandemic, “Film Goes On.”

Last year, JEONJU IFF presented a hybrid model of film fest in the unprecedented circumstances of the pandemic by postponing about a month and holding a 114-day event, which was the longest schedule ever, from the evaluation screenings to FALLing in JEONJU. However, the 22nd edition will take place as usual with a full program this year. The schedule will be a 10-day event from April 29 (Thu) to May 8 (Sat), 2021, which was decided by the festival’s Organization Committee on December 18 of last year.

JEONJU IFF was one of the first international film fests that held a hybrid event completely including on-off screenings and events amid the global pandemic. Based on the previous experience, there will be detailed plans depending on social distancing levels and quarantine measures against COVID-19. Accordingly, it is trying to figure out the best way to hold events and screenings, involving both public and online.

Also, JEONJU IFF revealed its new slogan, “Film Goes On,” which means we have our own movies as life goes on although the COVID-19 pandemic is deeply affecting the world. The festival is preparing various projects and campaigns along with the new slogan.

“Film Goes On” describes a message to filmmakers, audiences, and all of us, who’ve gone through the tough year of 2020, that let’s keep going through 2021 with films. It includes that we together could overcome the crisis in the film industry from COVID-19. It also represents JEONJU IFF will perform proper functions of the film festival to discover and introduce new films in the cataclysmic film market after the pandemic. The festival has plans to have campaigns with the catchphrase of “Film Goes On” and to gather opinions in J Conference and publication projects. Meanwhile, J Conference, one of the JEONJU Project events, will be officially launched this year.

Festival director LEE Joondong said, “Our new slogan includes the 22nd JEONJU IFF’s direction to share concerns and ideas about films after the pandemic of 2020. We will do our best to make the festival sustainable with guests and audiences together, not just a one-off event.”
