The 18th Jeonju International Film Festival(Festival director LEE Choongjik) has announced award winners on May 3 at the Jeonju Cine Complex.
At the award ceremony, Davi Pretto´s Rifle won the Grand Prize in ´International Competition´ and IM Taegyu´s The Seeds of Violence won the Grand Prize in ´Korean Competition´. In ´Korean Competition for Shorts´, BAE Gyung-heon’s Alone Together has won the Grand Prize.
The winner of ‘International Competition’, Rifle takes place in the countryside of Southern Brazil where Dione is one of the few left behind in a quiet rural town, as other landowners are making their visits with the goal of area development. In the film, the hardboiled tone has a skillful balance under the structure of a Western with its divide between native and conqueror.
Damien MANIVEL’s The Park has won the Woosuk Award, the prize in ´International Competition’. Maysaloun HAMOUD´s In Between and Eduardo WILLIAMS´s The Human Surge has won the Special Jury Prize together.
The winner of the ´Korean Competition´, The Seeds of Violence is the first feature film of director IM Taegyu. This film is about an ongoing physical assault in the military hierarchy and their abrupt ways trying to stop it.
´CGV Arthouse Award Upcoming Project Prize´ which is given to International Competition and Korean Competition, went to LEE Seungwon’Happy Bus Day. Especially the winner of Korean Competition The Seeds of Violence has won ´CGV Arthouse Award Distribution Support Prize´ as well.
In ´Korean Competition for Shorts´, BAE Gyung-heon’s Alone Together has won the Grand Prize, CHAE Euiseok’s Bomdong has won the Special Jury Prize and KIM Youngsam’s Hye-Young has won the Best Director Prize.
NETPAC Award which is given to the best Korean feature film went to KIM Heecheol’s The Painter´s View and Documentary Award, which is given to the best documentary film, went to PARK Moonchil’s Blue Butterfly Effect.
KO Bongsu’s Loser’s Adventure has won Daemyung Culture Wave Award, which is given to the best Korean feature film among all films screened during the festival, and HWANG Gyuil’s Saem has won the UNION INVESTMENT PARTNERS Award which is given to the director who debuted with his/her first feature film.
The 18th Jeonju International Film Festival will be held until May 6 and YAGUCHI Shinobu’s Survival Family will be screened on the last day for closing film.
